Does God Still Heal Sickness?

30f975354c030b690aa9a7c6fb63903aAbsolutely!  How do you receive healing?  God spoke to me through two pieces of Scripture.

Matthew 9:28  As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28 After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “Yes, Lord,” they answered. 29 Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.

Why did Jesus ask, “Do you believe that I am able to this” when He had the power to look into their hearts and see the level of faith?  The question was asked for you and I, so in reading about this event in the future we’d realize that we must believe in order to be healed.  God isn’t a prove it to me God.  The flesh says, ‘prove it to me and then I’ll believe’ and God replies, ‘believe and then I will prove it to you’.  His power is released only through faith.

Mark 11:24

23 “Truly I tell you that if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and has no doubt in his heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

It’s important that when we pray for healing that we believe that we have been healed.  Don’t prepare for decline.  Go out and buy a pair of running shoes and live.  Visit your doctor and do all that you can then stand.  When you feel the pain thank God for calling you into the faith.  Make sure every worry is turned into a praise and thank you!  Guard your thoughts.  Thoughts are not simply air.  This is what a thought actually looks like:

what-does-a-thought-look-like-headerAs we think more and more on a subject a mass of protein strains build.  Worriers do indeed have very messy cluttered brains.  The brain wasn’t designed to cope with dysfunction.  It’s simply an input output system designed to help us develop survival skills.  Take driving a car for example.  The first time you got into a car it felt strange and confusing.  The brain searched for a file labelled, ‘drive car’ and came up empty.  You had never driven before so no protein strains or memories existed.  But as you began to drive more and more protein strains formed until driving became second nature.

Faith works much the same way.  If you pray prayers filled with fear, worry and anxiety you are simply amassing a mess of proteins in your brain.  You say, ‘God I’m scared’ and your brain reacts to the fact you are speaking fear.  Now here is where this impacts your health.  As fear filled thoughts take over the cortisol levels in your body rise to toxic levels.  Excess cortisol causes additional health problems.  The exact opposite occurs when we pray faith filled prayers.  Lord I believe!  I have great hope for the future.  High on hope our brain actually releases endorphins that fight stress.  Thoughts are so very important which is why Jesus instructed us to capture every thought and make sure it is to the glory of the Lord.  Healing has everything to do with our thoughts.  Get silly if you have to but at all costs avoid negative thoughts.  Refuse to enter into worry which causes stress to attack the areas of my body that are sick.  Do whatever it takes to stay in faith.

Fake it ’til you make it actually works.  Studies have shown that even when we force a smile good chemicals are released into our body.  Focusing on right thinking decreases the time spent simply processing fear filled thoughts.  If you can’t sleep don’t toss and turn.  Read the Bible until you pass out.  The Word of God has the power to transform and renew the mind.  Wipe those negative protein strains out of your brain and replace them with faith.  If you allow your brain to go round and round all night in worry a mass of protein strains will build around your initial negative thought and toxic chemicals will be released into your body.  Allowing negative thoughts to spiral around is basically telling your body to give up the fight.  Positive thoughts do the opposite.  Think up go up and think down go down.  God actually designed our brains to release healing chemicals when we possess an attitude of faith.  Thus the steps to receive healing are simply this;  pray, believe you have received healing and get happy.  Avoid negative people like they have the plague for when you are ill they do.  If they cause you to get into a negative thought pattern you’ll go down.

52456d5f849266bfaaecf54d38fc71deNow we mustn’t forget, ‘Thy will be done’.  God doesn’t heal everyone.  It might be that it’s time to go home.  I spoke to a Christian friend in the military years ago.  He survived a firefight and then suddenly realized his buddies were still trapped.  Going back in would almost certainly mean death.  He prayed and this thought followed, ‘if I live I’ll go home to my family and if I die I’ll go home to my father.  Either way I win’.  He went back in, saved his friends and lived.  That’s how many Christians face life threatening illnesses.  Live or die, I win.  Once we have committed our lives to Christ no matter what life throws at us we are guaranteed victory in the end.  Our souls are safe and secure for all eternity in the Father’s hands.

  1. I love this, “Read the Bible until you pass out. The Word of God has the power to transform and renew the mind. Wipe those negative protein strains out of your brain and replace them with faith.”
And it’s true. I know from experience. WHY? Because “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12.
